About This Plant

The 2-Ball Eugenia Topiary Tree is a beautifully sculpted living specimen, prized for its dense, glossy foliage and timeless architectural form. Carefully pruned into two rounded spheres along a clean central trunk, each plant brings structure, symmetry, and a refined botanical presence to its surroundings.

Also commonly known in the nursery trade as Eugenia globulus or Dwarf Brush Cherry, this topiary is especially well suited for sunny entryways, patios, porches, courtyards, and bright sunrooms. Its naturally small leaves and dense growth make it particularly well suited to the precise shaping that gives topiary its classic appearance.

Offered in two sizes, the 7" pot measures approximately 27–29" tall, while the larger 10" pot measures approximately 42–44" tall, with overall height measured from the bottom of the grower’s pot to the highest point of the plant.

Each topiary is a living, naturally grown specimen, so slight variations in trunk formation, foliage density, and the shape of the individual spheres are expected. These subtle differences are part of the character and beauty of a hand-shaped living plant.

Plant Details
  • Botanical Name: Syzygium paniculatum ‘Globulus’

  • Nursery Trade Names: Eugenia globulus; Eugenia myrtifolia ‘Globulus’

  • Common Name: Dwarf Brush Cherry

  • Form: Classic 2-ball topiary trained along a central trunk

  • Available Sizes:

    • 7" grower’s pot — Approx. 27–29" tall

    • 10" grower’s pot — Approx. 42–44" tall

  • Foliage: Dense, small, glossy green leaves naturally well suited to formal shaping and topiary

  • Light: Prefers full sun to partial shade outdoors. When displayed indoors or in a sunroom, provide very bright light, ideally with some morning sun. Avoid prolonged placement in low-light or deeply shaded areas.

  • Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the upper portion of the soil to begin drying before watering again. Eugenia prefers consistent moisture but should never remain in saturated soil or standing water.

  • Soil & Drainage: Requires a well-draining growing medium. Always allow excess water to drain freely from the grower’s pot.

  • Pruning & Shaping: Regular trimming encourages dense growth and helps maintain the distinctive two-ball form. During periods of active growth, light shaping may be needed approximately every 2–3 weeks. New growth can also be pinched back between larger trimmings.

  • Fertilizing: Feed periodically during the active growing season with a balanced fertilizer appropriate for container-grown plants.

  • Temperature & Placement: Protect from strong drafts, heating or air-conditioning vents, and sudden temperature changes. Allow the plant time to acclimate after moving it to a new environment.

  • Pest Awareness: Periodically inspect new growth and the undersides of leaves for common pests such as aphids. Early detection helps maintain healthy foliage.

  • Best For: Sunny entryways, patios, porches, courtyards, sunrooms, and formal container displays

Shipping & Delivery
  • Shipping Days: Live plants are shipped on Mondays and Tuesdays only, weather and holidays permitting, to help minimize unnecessary time in transit and reduce the possibility of plants being held within the carrier network over a weekend.

  • Processing: Orders placed later in the week are generally held for shipment the following Monday or Tuesday. During periods of high demand or following a holiday weekend, additional processing time may be necessary.

  • Weather Holds: Because your purchase is a living plant, we monitor weather conditions before shipment. Orders may be temporarily held when extreme temperatures or severe weather at the origin, destination, or along the transit route could place the plant at risk.

  • Cold-Weather Shipping: Please check your local 10-day forecast before ordering. If temperatures are expected to reach 47°F or below, a Winter Pack is required to help protect your plant during transit.

  • Carrier Selection: Live plants are shipped via UPS to provide reliable transit and tracking. Other physical products, including certain Plant Care & Supplies items, may be shipped via USPS when appropriate. Tracking information is provided once your order has been prepared for shipment.

  • Individual Plant Shipping: Larger plants may be shipped individually to help protect their foliage, canopy, and overall condition during transit.

  • Shipping Confirmation & Tracking: Once your order has shipped, an email will be sent with your shipping and tracking details so you can follow your plant’s journey and anticipate its arrival.

  • Upon Delivery: Live plant packages should be brought indoors immediately after carrier delivery and opened promptly. Do not leave your plant outside, on a porch, at an outdoor mailbox, or in another location where it may be exposed to heat, cold, direct sun, or other extreme conditions.

  • Transit & Acclimation: Plants may experience minor cosmetic stress after several days in a shipping box. Slight leaf drop or temporary changes in appearance can be a normal part of transit and acclimation. With appropriate care, your plant should settle into its new surroundings beautifully.

  • Expedited Shipping: Faster shipping options may be available when appropriate. Please contact us before ordering if expedited service is needed.

Winter Protection Policy

To help your living plant travel safely during colder months, please review the 10-day forecast for your location, including daytime and overnight temperatures, before placing your order.

  • Temperatures of 47°F or Below: If temperatures are expected to reach 47°F or below at any point during transit or delivery, a Winter Pack is required to help protect your plant during shipment.

  • What Is Included: The Winter Pack includes added insulation and a 96-hour heat pack to help maintain a more protected environment for your plant while in transit.

  • Select Before Shipping: Winter protection must be selected before your order is prepared for shipment. Once a plant has been packed and the shipping label created, we cannot reopen the package to add insulation or a heat pack.

  • Weather Holds: For the health and safety of your plant, we may delay shipment when extreme cold, severe weather, or unsafe transit conditions are expected. PlantsNDesigns ships live plants on Mondays and Tuesdays only, weather and holidays permitting, to help minimize the possibility of packages remaining in carrier facilities over a weekend.

  • Be Prepared for Delivery: Live plants must be brought indoors immediately after carrier delivery. During cold weather, please arrange for someone to receive the package whenever possible so it is not left outside, on a porch, at an outdoor mailbox, or in another unheated location.

  • Unbox Promptly: Once indoors, carefully unbox your plant as soon as possible and remove it from its protective shipping materials. Place the plant in a comfortable indoor location away from drafts, heating vents, and sudden temperature extremes.

  • After Transit: A living plant may experience minor cosmetic stress after spending several days inside a shipping box without sunlight. Slight leaf drop or temporary changes in appearance can occur and are generally part of the normal acclimation process.

If temperatures are expected to reach 47°F or below and the required Winter Pack is declined, PlantsNDesigns cannot guarantee the plant against cold damage or death caused by low temperatures during transit.

PlantsNDesigns also cannot guarantee the condition of a plant that is left outdoors or exposed to unsafe temperatures after confirmed carrier delivery. Cold or heat damage occurring after delivery because the package was not promptly retrieved and brought indoors is not eligible for replacement or refund.

Live Plant Purchase Policy

Because live plants are living agricultural products, all live plant sales are final and returns are not accepted.

PlantsNDesigns maintains its greenhouse inventory under controlled sanitary growing conditions in accordance with agricultural requirements for interstate plant shipping. Once a plant leaves our care and enters another environment, we can no longer verify its exposure to insects, pests, disease, soil-borne organisms, or other contaminants.

For this reason, and to remain in compliance with our agricultural certification and protect the health of our greenhouse inventory, a plant that has left our facility cannot be returned or reintroduced into our growing area.

This policy also protects the many healthy plants still in our care from possible outside contamination.

Damaged or Dead on Arrival

While live plants cannot be returned, we absolutely want to know if your plant arrives dead or materially damaged as a result of shipping.

Please contact PlantsNDesigns within 24 hours of confirmed carrier delivery so we can assess the condition of the plant as it arrived.

Clear photographs may be requested of:

  • The plant as it arrived

  • The shipping box

  • The interior packaging

  • The packaging with the shipping label visible

  • Any visible damage to the package or plant

We will review the circumstances and determine the appropriate resolution.

Minor cosmetic stress caused by transit—such as temporary leaf droop, slight leaf loss, or minor foliage changes—is not generally considered shipping damage. Living plants may need a little time to acclimate after several days in a shipping box.

Please purchase thoughtfully. Because live plants cannot be accepted back once they have left our controlled growing environment, we encourage customers to review the plant details, size, care requirements, shipping information, and cold-weather requirements before completing their purchase. If temperatures in your local 10-day forecast are expected to reach 47°F or below, a Winter Pack is required.

Because every home environment is different, factors such as light, temperature, humidity, and watering frequency will vary.
If you have questions after receiving your plant, PlantsNDesigns is happy to provide general care guidance.

Can I cancel my order?

Orders may be canceled within 24 hours of purchase, provided the order has not already entered preparation or been shipped. Because live plant orders are prepared promptly for our Monday and Tuesday shipping schedule, orders placed shortly before or during shipping days may begin processing before the 24-hour period has passed and may no longer be eligible for cancellation.

If you need to cancel an order, please contact PlantsNDesigns as soon as possible after purchase.

Can I request a later shipping date?

Yes. If you will be traveling, unavailable to receive your plant, or simply need additional time, you may request that your shipment be postponed for up to three weeks from the original shipping period.

Shipping-delay requests should be made within the first 24 hours after purchase. Orders placed on or immediately before our Monday and Tuesday shipping days may be prepared and shipped quickly, so please contact us as soon as possible if you need your order held.

Requests may be made by email or by calling 904-748-9009. We will make every reasonable effort to accommodate your requested shipping week. Specific delivery dates cannot be guaranteed, as carrier transit times, weather conditions, and other circumstances may affect arrival.

How are live plants protected during shipping?

Each live plant is carefully prepared and secured for shipment to help protect the pot, soil, foliage, and overall plant structure while in transit. Packaging is selected according to the size and growth habit of the plant, with particular attention given to limiting unnecessary movement inside the shipping box.

PlantsNDesigns is certified by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) for interstate shipment of live plants. Our plants are maintained under the agricultural standards required for shipment and are inspected for regulated plant pests, including nematodes and other pests or diseases that may be restricted by individual states. This provides an additional level of assurance that the plants leaving our greenhouse meet applicable plant-health requirements for interstate shipment.

During colder weather, winter protection is available and is required when temperatures are expected to reach 47°F or below. Please see our Winter Protection Policy for additional information.

Will the plant I receive look like the photos?

Yes, we make every effort to photograph and present our live plants as accurately as possible so you have a clear understanding of the size, maturity, and overall appearance you can expect. Whenever shown, photographs with a measuring yardstick provide an additional reference for the approximate size of the plant offered.

Because plants are naturally grown, no two specimens are exactly alike. Variations in leaf shape, growth pattern, fullness, height, and other natural characteristics are part of what makes each plant unique. When plants are purchased as a set, we carefully select specimens that complement one another as closely as possible in size and overall appearance.

Images showing optional Worm Castings or Winter Pack selections are provided to illustrate those purchasing options. Decorative planters, furnishings, and other styling elements shown in lifestyle photographs are not included unless specifically stated in the product description.
